Job summary

Bonhill Partners is seeking a Python Desk Developer to join a London-based proprietary trading / market-making team. This is a greenfield role working directly with traders, quants and researchers to build new tools and applications with immediate impact on the trading desk.

You will own projects from ideation through design, development and deployment, design scalable Python solutions in Linux, and collaborate across engineers, traders and researchers to automate workflows and improve trading

Qualifications

• Experience building applications or tools from scratch with emphasis on quality and usability.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and ownership of projects.
• Experience collaborating with end users or business stakeholders to gather requirements.
• Experience working in Linux environments.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL or similar databases.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A genuine interest in financial markets and technology.
• Experience in buy-side, hedge fund, proprietary trading or market-making environments.
• Experience developing trader-facing or desk-facing applications.

Responsibilities

• Build greenfield Python applications and tools to support traders and trading teams.
• Work directly with traders, quants and researchers to identify problems and opportunities.
• Own projects from initial idea through design, development and deployment.
• Develop trading tools and analytics applications to improve desk efficiency.
• Iterate with end users and incorporate feedback to improve applications.
• Design scalable Python solutions in a Linux environment.
• Work with relational databases to support trading apps.
• Collaborate across engineers, quants, traders and researchers.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve workflows.
• Contribute to evolving the firm's technology stack and practices.
