Job summary

Deutsche Bank in London is seeking a Commodities Quantitative Strategist (Associate) to join the Group Strategic Analytics team. You will support pricing, risk and P&L functions across commodity derivatives and indices within the Kannon platform, collaborating with traders, risk and finance to deliver analytical enhancements.

The role requires strong C++ programming skills and an understanding of commodity derivatives; you will improve codebase in a fast-changing environment and translate

Qualifications

  • Good programming experience, primarily in modern C++.
  • Understanding of commodity derivative products (nice to have).
  • Knowledge of front‑office risk and P&L calculation with investment banking front‑office (advantageous).
  • Quantitative, modelling, pricing and risk management skills demonstrated in a financial services environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to explain complex requirements clearly and prioritise against tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of an immediate book of work identified within commodity derivatives, commodity indices and structured products.
  • Provide desk support to trading to analyse risk and P&L issues day‑to‑day
  • Continuously improve the existing codebase in a rapidly changing environment to develop new functionality efficiently
  • Work closely with traders, risk, finance and other stakeholders to understand requirements and design strategic solutions

Group Strategic Analytics (GSA) is part of Group Chief Operation Office (COO) which acts as the bridge between the Bank’s businesses and infrastructure functions to help deliver the efficiency, control, and transformation goals of the Bank.

You will join the Commodities Strats team within GSA, which is accountable for the pricing, risk, and profit & loss (P&L) functionality across commodity and commodity index within the banks strategic Kannon platform. As a member of a growing team, you will assist trading, structuring, middle/back office functions, risk and finance to use the platform and perform analysis, design and implementation of extensions to facilitate new initiatives or remedy identified issues.
