About the role

Are you a driven individual who is passionate about bringing history to life? The Bodleian Libraries is looking for enthusiastic team players interested in delivering exemplary customer service to join our dedicated Front of House team. As a Visitor Host, you will work with a diverse range of people from varied backgrounds, delivering a world-class service for every visitor. You will pride yourself on delivering engaging and informative guided tours to an international audience, while proactively promoting and selling the Bodleian’s range of public offers.

You should have experience working confidently under pressure in a customer-focused environment and be able to communicate clearly, relating effectively to visitors of all ages and nationalities. The role involves working according to a daily staffing schedule, moving between different service points, guiding groups around the site, and lifting lightweight equipment. This is a permanent position with 5 part-time vacancies ranging from 10 to 28 hours per week, working across a 2-week rota, including at least one weekend day per week.

About You

You will have previous experience in a busy, customer-facing role, with strong verbal communication skills that enable effective engagement with visitors of all ages and nationalities. You should have a proven track record of delivering engaging guided tours, demonstrating the ability to connect with audiences and adapt your approach as needed. A genuine interest in history and heritage will help you bring stories and spaces to life in a meaningful and accessible way.
