Job description

We are looking for a friendly and charismatic Front of House Supervisor (daytime shifts!) to join the team at The Square. While this is a part time role, it's on the high end of part time, offering 25 hours per week, usually worked over approx. 4 shifts per week. Shifts will usually be day-based, with some early starts (6:15am!) so this role does lend itself well to early birds!

Some front of house / table waiting experience is required, and above all we're looking for a natural leader, ideally with some supervisory experience who is friendly, proactive and who'll be great with our customers and members!

Who are we? The Square is Bristol's premier private members' club for the media and arts industries. Comprising a sumptuous lower deck members' bar, fine dining restaurant, events space and stunning outdoor garden space this is a venue that delivers on many fronts! As Front of House Supervisor, you will be based in the restaurant space at the Square, supporting our small front of house team and taking great care to ensure our guests have a great experience, whether it's an à la carte dinner service or a busy private event like a wedding!

Details of the Front of House Supervisor role:

Location: The Square, on Berkeley Square in Clifton (BS8)

Hours: 25 hours per week, usually worked over approx. 4 daytime shifts per week (these hours are guaranteed on your contract - no zero-hours here!)

Typical shift timings: Of your 4 shifts each week,you can expect to typically work 2 early starting shifts each week (6:15am - 3pm) to cover our breakfast and lunch service, and 2 shifts each week with a mid-morning start, working lunch time (11am - 3pm). As such, in this role you can enjoy consistent daytime shifts - a great option for those who aren't keen on a late night finish. Having said that, the rota-based nature of this role means that there will likely be some variation from this pattern on occasion.

Pay: £12.30 per hour plus service charge (paid monthly)

Key responsibilities for the Front of House Supervisor position:

As Front of House Supervisor, you will be involved in the following...

• Supervising of breakfast and lunch shifts in the Square's delightful restaurant space, acting as duty manager on shift - making sure that service levels are impeccable and the team look the part.
• At breakfast, your customers are mostly guests of the adjacent Berkeley Square Hotel. Lunch service can be anything from an à la carte service, to a private dining event, to a wedding (and more!)
• As we are a small team, you will serve customers as well as overseeing the team in doing so
  
• Training new breakfast waiting and front of house team members; occasionally carrying out 1-2-1 meetings with the team
  
• Responsible for welcoming our customers and maintaining the right atmosphere in our restaurant

What are we looking for in our next Front of House S upervisor?

• An early riser who's happy to do 2x breakfast shifts each week starting at 6:15am (as well as 2 later starting shifts, around 11am)
• A passion for hospitality and great customer service!
  
• You will ideally have experience in a supervisory position, however we are also open to experienced front of house workers who are ready to take that next step towards management by taking on this supervisory role
• Confident and proactive, with excellent communication and people skills
• Organised and proactive, able to think on your feet and take initiative to problem solve on the fly!
• An engaging, charismatic and positive personality, able to get on well with our small team as well as our customers
• Impeccably presented with a keen eye for detail
