Job summary

Holroyd Howe is recruiting a Front of House Supervisor to support the catering service at Downside School in Somerset. You will lead the front-of-house team, ensure excellent customer service, and uphold high standards across all food service areas.

Working with the General Manager, you will manage daily operations, assist with stock, plan events, handle guest queries, and contribute to a positive dining experience for pupils, staff and visitors.

Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory experience in catering/hospitality/food service.
  • Passion for delivering excellent food service and customer experiences.
  • Good understanding of food safety, health & safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Team in day-to-day operation of the catering service and maintain high standards of food service and customer care.
  • Supervise and support the front-of-house team, providing guidance and encouragement.
  • Lead by example to deliver a welcoming and professional dining experience for pupils, staff and visitors.
  • Assist with stock control, ordering and monitoring of supplies to support operations and budget expectations.
  • Support planning and delivery of hospitality events, school functions and special occasions.
  • Handle customer queries and feedback professionally to ensure a positive experience.
  • Assist with induction and training of new team members and foster a positive team culture.
  • Deputise for the Deputy General Manager when required and oversee smooth operation.

Contract Type: Full-time, permeant -52 weeks a year.
Salary:£27,500 per annum + benefits.

About the role:

We are seeking a welcoming and dedicated Front of House Supervisor to support the smooth day-to-day running of the catering service at Downside School. Working closely with the General Manager, you'll play an important role in leading and supporting the front-of-house team, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards across all aspects of food service. This hands-on position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in delivering great hospitality, and is passionate about creating a positive dining experience.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deputise for the Deputy General Manager when required, taking responsibility for the smooth running of the operation and team leadership.
Qualifications

Candidate Profile:

  • Previous supervisory experience within a catering, hospitality, or food service environment would be ideal.
  • A passion for delivering excellent food service and creating positive customer experiences.
  • Good understanding of food safety, health & safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, pupils, staff, and visitors.
  • Organised and able to remain calm and focused in a busy environment.
  • A hands-on approach with a willingness to support all aspects of the operation when required.
  • Experience within an education or contract catering environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
