Job description

Tun is a neighbourhood coffee shop and bar based in Leyton. We want to be a home-from-home for people in the local community, providing a place for them to connect over good coffee, simple and tasty food, and a tipple or two in the late afternoon/evening.

We’re looking for a personable and dependable person to join our team as a key founding staff member.

You’ll be joining in the first few weeks of Tun opening its doors for the first time and this role gives a chance to help shape a new business from the ground up.

You will provide a welcoming and thorough customer service whilst creating superb drinks and preparing and serving food. On top of these daily responsibilities you’ll also be comfortable assisting with deliveries, operating a POS system, doing basic food preparation (training will be provided) and occasionally opening and closing the business.

The ability to chip in and be flexible when needed is key and will be rewarded with growth opportunities in the long term, including more responsibility, better pay and perks. Based in the growing bustle of Tilbury Road, Leyton you’ll be part of a close-knit and passionate community of small businesses.

Availability to support opening from 7.30 and across the weekends is essential. Shifts are 7.5 hours in length, and you’ll be working 5 shifts a week (with one weekend day).

If you’re fancying something a little more flexible, part-time roles are also available, with the focus of these FOH roles to support across Thursday/Friday/Saturday evenings and weekends.

What will you be doing?

  • Being a warm, welcoming and helpful host
  • Serving consistently great drinks
  • Preparing and serving simple food
  • Operating our POS system
  • Regularly opening and closing the business
  • Ensuring high standards of health and safety
  • Helping to keep a clean and hygienic working environment
  • Accepting and storing deliveries
  • Inventory management and monitoring stock levels

What’s in it for you?

  • Competitive wages
  • Free coffee
  • Discounted food and drinks
  • Discounts across our neighbour businesses
  • Opportunity to help shape a new business
  • Chances to grow your responsibility and experience as Tun grows
