St Thomas More Catholic Primary School, a vibrant and inclusive primary school at the heart of the community, is seeking a Front of House Administrative Assistant to be the welcoming face of our school. The working hours will be 08:30-15:30, Monday to Friday, term-time plus one week.
This is a key role that requires excellent interpersonal skills, strong organisation, and a genuine commitment to supporting children and families. As the first point of contact for visitors and callers, you will ensure everyone receives a warm and professional welcome, while keeping the front office running smoothly.

Job Purpose:
To provide a welcoming and efficient front-of-house presence for the school, ensuring a professional and friendly first point of contact for all visitors, parents, and staff. The Front of House Administrative Assistant will also undertake a range of administrative duties to support the effective running of the school office.
Key Responsibilities:Reception Duties:Greet all visitors, parents, and students warmly and ensure they are signed in according to safeguarding procedures.
Answer incoming phone calls, direct calls appropriately, and take accurate messages.
Monitor access to the school premises and ensure all safeguarding protocols are followed.
Handle general correspondence, emails, and phone queries in a professional and timely manner.
Maintain and update school records, databases, and filing systems (digital and physical).
Assist with the preparation of newsletters, notices, and communication to parents.
Support staff with printing, copying, and document collation.
Manage the reception area to ensure it is tidy and welcoming at all times.
Administer basic first aid and medication to pupils, where qualified and required.
Assist with pupil attendance records, late arrivals, and early collections.
Support the coordination of school events, trips, and meetings.
Handle deliveries and incoming/outgoing post.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection guidelines.
Carry out any other duties commensurate with the role as directed by the line manager.
Essential:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
Previous experience in a school or customer-facing administrative role.
Knowledge of SIMS or other school management systems.
First Aid training.
