Joining Hoare Lea means experiencing a business that enriches your knowledge, supports your wellbeing, and values your individuality. Our goal is to enable everyone to develop their skills, give their best, and enjoy their work.

About the role

We have a new opportunity for a UX-focused front-end developer to join our Digital team. You can be based in our Bristol office or remotely with access to a Hoare Lea office.

This is an exciting time as we grow and lead digital transformation in the industry. You will be part of an established product team working on our Origin platform, used daily by consultants to design high-performance buildings. The platform must be fast, error-reducing, and workflow-supportive.

The role has two main aspects: as a UX designer, you’ll establish processes to ensure user-centric software development and coordinate standards across teams; as a front-end developer, you’ll work with others to turn UX designs into functional interfaces.

You can expect to:

  • Utilize your front-end development and UX design skills to create usable, user-friendly software.
  • Work within a Scrum team to deliver complete features from mock-up to deployment.
  • Help develop UX expertise across teams for consistent, high-quality digital experiences.
  • Plan and conduct user studies, gather feedback, and guide software design decisions.
  • Support the use of our data platform and mentor apprentices in the Data Academy.

About you

To succeed, you should have experience in:

  • Designing excellent user experiences, conducting UX processes like user observation and value mapping.
  • UI design details, including information architecture, color schemes, error states, and interactions.
  • Critiquing and reviewing work, responding to feedback, and articulating ideas within a team.
  • Implementing designs in React, with proper documentation and testing.
  • Using Git, pull requests, and continuous integration in software projects.
