A vacancy has arisen for a FEL Operator to join our team within our new Operations and cleaning of a Biomass handling & storage facility contract at the Port of Tyne.

The FEL Operator role exists to move Biomass material on site; hours of work will depend on vessel schedules.

Hargreaves Industrial Services provides operations and cleaning services to our client at the Port of Tyne Biomass handling facility.

We are responsible for the safe movements and handling of Biomass following vessel discharge and the dispatch of loaded rail wagons within the Port.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties:
  • Loading Biomass into loading hoppers to supply material to the adjacent rail loading facility
  • Loading Biomass materials into road lorries
  • Secondary loading/movements of Biomass to/from storage areas within the Port
  • Supporting movements of Biomass within the main Biomass store
  • Stock management within the main Biomass store, including use of push-up blades
  • Ensuring different types of materials are separated
  • Completing all relevant paperwork for plant operations and material movements
  • Maintaining plant and equipment in a safe, operational, and clean condition
  • Understanding Safe Working Procedures
  • Attending meetings or training sessions as required
  • Good communication skills and understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace
  • Supporting secondary roles within the operation, such as internal tipper wagon driving, train loading watchman, and biomass material condition monitoring (training provided)
Ideal candidate skills and experience:
  • Recognised FEL licence (internal site licence, CPCS, NPOR, etc.)
  • IOSHH working safely certification (training provided)
  • Experience in a materials handling environment
  • Experience in Biomass handling (desirable)
  • COMPEX training (desirable, training available)
