Job Description:

Shift: Monday to Thursday (Nights)

Department: Engineering
Location: Cranswick Convenience Foods, Milton Keynes
Team Size: 50+ on-site Engineers

Job Purpose

To provide effective electrical and mechanical services to Cranswick Milton Keynes factory equipment. This includes installation, maintenance, and repair work in production areas or on production equipment, covering mechanical, civil, electrical, plumbing, ventilation, and refrigeration engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all activities comply with company and legislative health and safety guidelines.
  • Record all work on CMMS (Pirana) and ensure hygiene hand-back is completed.
  • Maintain high standards across workshops, tool boxes, and associated engineering areas.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns, identifying root causes and suggesting improvements.
  • Share best practices through toolbox talks.
  • Manage workload proactively and communicate unscheduled breakdowns to minimize disruption.
  • Ensure maintenance is carried out as per schedule and corrective actions meet technical specifications.
  • Follow engineering standards and site hygiene practices.
  • Monitor and adjust process equipment to optimize performance.
  • Carry out minor modifications and assist in installing new equipment.
  • Identify spare parts and materials required to minimize downtime.
  • Demonstrate basic problem-solving techniques.
  • Raise stock and non-stock requests.
  • Undertake minor site alterations and installs to required standards.
  • Escalate engineering issues timely to the appropriate management.
  • Supervise and manage contractors as required.
  • Mentor apprentices as required.
  • Perform any other tasks as reasonably requested by the line manager.

Requirements

General:

  • Compliant with Engineering Training and Competency Matrix.
  • Electrical fault finding and mechanical fitting experience.
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic experience.

Level 1:

Level 2:

  • Level 1 requirements.
  • Several years of engineering experience, ideally in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Competent electrical fault finder.
  • Ability to explain work and production processes to others.

Level 3:

  • Level 1 & 2 requirements.
  • Automation and controls experience.
  • Ability to mentor and develop others within the department.
