French Language Support Assistant – Secondary School – Eastleigh, Hampshire
Start Date: September 2025 or October 2025 | Contract Type: Full-Time

Are you passionate about the French language and eager to support students’ learning in a school environment?

GSL Education are delighted to offer a full-time French Language Support Assistant role at a secondary school in Eastleigh, starting September 2025 or October 2025, depending on notice period. This rewarding position involves working alongside the languages department, supporting students in small groups within the classroom to enhance their understanding and confidence in French.

The role offers a permanent contract following a successful probation period, with opportunities to progress through pay grades as you gain experience and develop professionally.

French Language Support Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with language teachers to support French lessons
  • Assist students in small groups to reinforce language skills and learning objectives
  • Help prepare and organise classroom resources to support teaching activities
  • Monitor and report on student progress and engagement
  • Support the inclusion of all students by adapting resources and approaches as needed
  • Encourage positive behaviour and participation during lessons
  • Maintain professional and positive relationships with students and staff

Requirements for a French Language Support Assistant:

  • Enthusiasm for supporting language learning, ideally with some knowledge of French
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational or similar setting is preferred
  • A degree in French, MFL or a similar subject or experience working as a French Language Support
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, adaptable, and able to work collaboratively within a team
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
  • Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
