Modern languages are a vital component of a school curriculum, offering students valuable experiences across various areas of learning and fostering cross-curricular links.
We currently employ a Foreign Language Assistant for each of our core languages: French, German, and Spanish. The main role of the FLAs is to provide pupils with regular, structured contact time with native speakers, both individually and in small groups. They offer guidance on pronunciation and intonation, encourage idiomatic language use, and contribute significantly to GCSE and A-level speaking test preparation. They also bring real contact with language speakers into students' daily lives.
The Foreign Language Assistants assist staff and pupils in numerous ways, helping the department stay updated on language and cultural developments.
The successful candidate will support French teachers in preparing and delivering language activities and group work in the classroom.
Full job description and person specification are available in the Information Pack.
The closing date for applications is 9am on Monday, 28th April.
Interviews will be held during the week of 6th May at Edgbaston High School for Girls. Candidates will be invited for a formal interview, asked to prepare specific activities, and will have the opportunity to tour the school.
