Job summary

White Recruitment Limited is seeking a Freight Pricing Specialist – Freight Forwarding to join its Birmingham team. The role focuses on ownership of quotations, negotiating competitive rates and developing customer and supplier relationships from the Inside Sales function.

You will work closely with the Branch Manager to manage pricing enquiries for international shipments, sourcing rates and delivering high standards of service while driving profitable business growth.

Qualifications

• Experience within freight forwarding, particularly in pricing, quotations, inside sales or a similar commercial role.
• A good understanding of international freight movements and the factors involved in obtaining competitive shipping rates.
• Strong negotiation skills and the confidence to communicate with customers, carriers and overseas agents.
• A proactive approach to following up quotations, winning business and developing existing accounts.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• The initiative to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team.

Responsibilities

• Managing quotation requests for international shipments, covering a variety of origins and destinations worldwide.
• Sourcing competitive rates using existing tariffs and negotiating directly with shipping lines, hauliers, overseas agents and other suppliers.
• Preparing accurate, competitive quotations and following up with customers to maximise conversion into bookings.
• Building strong relationships with existing customers, identifying opportunities to increase business and re-engage accounts where activity has declined.
• Coordinating with operational teams to ensure a smooth handover of new business, with accurate pricing, costs and customer instructions documented.
• Making proactive sales calls to prospective customers and identifying opportunities to grow the company’s freight forwarding services.

Salary: £30,000 – £32,000 + commission/Bonus Incentive

Are you an experienced freight forwarding professional with a strong understanding of pricing, a commercial mindset and the confidence to build relationships with customers and suppliers?

We’re working exclusively with an established freight forwarding business looking to recruit an Internal Pricing Specialist to join its Inside Sales team. This is an opportunity to take ownership of quotations, negotiate competitive rates and play a key role in converting opportunities into profitable business, while helping to develop and grow the customer base.

The Role

Working closely with the Branch Manager and wider operations team, you’ll manage pricing enquiries across international freight movements, working with customers, overseas agents and suppliers to secure competitive rates and deliver a high standard of service.

This is a varied, commercially focused position combining freight pricing, customer relationship management and proactive business development.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing quotation requests for international shipments, covering a variety of origins and destinations worldwide.
• Sourcing competitive rates using existing tariffs and negotiating directly with shipping lines, hauliers, overseas agents and other suppliers.
• Preparing accurate, competitive quotations and following up with customers to maximise conversion into bookings.
• Building strong relationships with existing customers, identifying opportunities to increase business and re-engage accounts where activity has declined.
• Supporting new customers through the onboarding process, including credit applications, powers of attorney and the creation of clear standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Coordinating with operational teams to ensure a smooth handover of new business, with accurate pricing, costs and customer instructions documented.
• Making proactive sales calls to prospective customers and identifying opportunities to grow the company’s freight forwarding services.
• Managing pricing queries and resolving customer or supplier issues promptly, escalating where necessary to protect commercial relationships.
