Freight Optimisation Lead - Global Supply Chain

Location: Cheltenham, UK (Hybrid working)

Role Overview:

The Global Supply Chain (GSC) Freight Optimisation Lead will be responsible for centrally managing and optimising the efficient movement of inbound materials from suppliers and inter-group supply sites to all global supply locations.

The Freight Optimisation Lead will collaborate with supply site procurement teams and stakeholders to develop and implement a governance process and strategy for inbound material freight to ensure the best value from providers while meeting operational business needs.

Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on…
  1. Acting as the central point of contact for GSC inbound materials freight, collaborating with other businesses across the Spirax Group to ensure leverage and best value and supplier selection for GSC
  2. Developing and implementing freight strategies to optimise the movement of inbound 3rd party material for GSC supply sites, including inter-group movement
  3. Establishing clear rules and policies for inbound material freight operations and align on a governance framework with relevant stakeholders
  4. Align process responsibilities to specific team members with site Procurement Leaders, for the governance monitoring and savings tracking and reporting
  5. Regular monitoring of expedited freight usage to identify trends and optimise processes
  6. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with strategic freight suppliers to ensure reliable supply and best value; monitoring supplier performance and implementing improvement plans as necessary
  7. Conducting market analysis to identify new sourcing opportunities and mitigate risks
  8. Negotiating contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers to secure best terms
Your previous experience is likely to include…
  • In-depth working knowledge of freight and shipping regulations, customs procedures and international shipping laws
  • Substantial experience in freight coordination, logistics management or a similar role
  • A proven track record of optimising freight and logistics operations and managing complex supply chains
  • Managing supplier relationships and negotiating contracts
  • Working within an international, matrix organisation
