Our client is a well-established UK shipping agent and logistics partner, specialising in marine fuel supply and shipping services across the UK and Ireland. As the business continues to grow, they are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Freight Forwarder to join their team.
(Freight Forwarder) Position Overview:
The Freight Forwarder will play a key role in managing and coordinating the end-to-end movement of goods, ensuring timely delivery and full compliance with shipping and customs regulations.
This is a critical role within the logistics chain, requiring strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
(Freight Forwarder) Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the transportation of goods by sea and road, ensuring efficiency and alignment with client requirements and budgets.
- Liaise with carriers, freight agents, and third-party service providers to ensure seamless cargo movement.
- Prepare and manage all relevant shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, commercial invoices, and certificates of origin.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable international trade regulations and legal requirements.
- Oversee and facilitate customs clearance procedures, including duty and tax calculations and direct communication with customs authorities.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing regular shipment updates, resolving queries, and ensuring a high standard of service.
- Proactively identify and resolve logistical issues such as delays, route changes, or compliance concerns.
- Stay current with industry regulations, import/export legislation, and best practices, advising clients accordingly.
- Negotiate rates with carriers and vendors to optimise cost efficiency without compromising service quality.
- Monitor transport-related expenses and provide cost analysis when required.
Position Requirements:
- Proven experience in freight forwarding-ideally within sea, road, or air freight.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end shipment processes, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
- Confident in liaising with carriers, customers, and customs authorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics-related software systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Candidates with general logistics or supply chain experience will also be considered, with training and support provided for the right individual.
