Job description

The Role
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the transportation of goods, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and providing exceptional service to their clients. This role requires strong negotiation skills, proficiency in transportation management systems, and a solid understanding of supply chain processes.

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate and manage the movement of goods from origin to destination, ensuring timely delivery.
  2. Negotiate rates and terms with carriers, suppliers, and third-party logistics providers (3PL).
  3. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including FDA regulations for specific shipments.
  4. Utilise Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems for efficient communication and documentation.
  5. Maintain accurate records through data entry and management of shipping documents.
  6. Collaborate with sales management to support customer needs and resolve any logistical issues.
  7. Monitor shipments in transit, providing updates to clients as necessary.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with carriers and suppliers to enhance service delivery.
  9. Ensure adherence to the CAA, TAPA & physical security regulations always.
  10. Ensure compliance to Health & Safety policies and that housekeeping guidelines are maintained.
  11. Ensure that HMRC, GDP and IATA regulations are adhered to.

Qualifications

  1. Proven experience in freight forwarding or logistics management is essential.
  2. Strong understanding of supply chain processes and transportation management systems.
  3. Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure favourable terms.
  4. Familiarity with FDA regulations related to freight forwarding is required.
  5. Proficient in data entry and management software relevant to logistics operations.
  6. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  7. Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for client interactions.
  9. Clean criminal record and DBS checks in line with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
