Freight Coordinator – Castle Donington – Up to £33,000

Our client, an International Freight Forwarder, is looking for a Freight Coordinator to join the team and support the growth of the business by helping achieve the strategic objective of meeting and exceeding the financial year’s budget. This role actively supports the smooth operation of day-to-day functions within the branch. The individual will focus on customer service, communication, and relationship building with customers, suppliers, colleagues, and overseas agents, while proactively seeking growth and efficiency in their role.

Job type: Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday (Start times flexible)

Primarily office-based, with opportunities for flexible home working after successful completion of probation period

Salary: Up to £33,000

Job responsibilities:

  • Proactively support the Branch Manager in the daily operation of the department
  • Handling and managing Import and Export movements across Air, Ocean, and Road
  • Understanding and complying with Standard Operating Procedures in line with customer requirements
  • Monitoring current shipments, ensuring accurate booking and system updates in Cargowise
  • Providing proactive customer service by liaising with clients, overseas agents, and suppliers as needed
  • Completing customs entries for Air, Sea, and Road shipments via Cargowise system
  • Updating customer tariffs and providing quotations, sourcing rates for full-service offerings
  • Managing files to ensure data quality and timely updates for invoicing
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant customs and procedural regulations
  • Work as part of a small, dynamic, and experienced team with opportunities to cover a broad range of operational activities
  • Manage your own accounts daily with support from management and colleagues
  • Expected to be multi-modal, covering Air, Ocean, and Road for both imports and exports (training will be provided in unfamiliar areas)
  • Customs entries will be part of the role, but not the sole function; training will be provided if required

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years working for a UK based freight forwarder covering Ocean, Air or Road freight
  • Experience in customs entries (CDS)
  • Right to work in the UK
