Position: Freight Coordinator

Location: Southampton

Hours: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:30 (APPROX)

Salary: up to £35,000 (DEO)

We are recruiting for our client, who is growing their experienced team. They are a leading a specialist in multimodal freight solutions across the UK and globally.

The Role

As a Freight Coordinator, you will play a key role in managing and coordinating both import and export shipments, with a particular emphasis on road freight and courier services to begin with. Experience in ocean & air freight is highly desirable, as you will be supporting the team moving forward.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate end-to-end freight movements (road, courier, air and ocean)
• Prepare and issue shipping documents, including bills of lading and customs declarations
• Provide timely and competitive freight quotes to clients and internal teams
• Liaise with carriers, customs brokers, and overseas agents
• Ensure compliance with import/export regulations
• Track and trace shipments, providing regular updates to stakeholders
• Maintain accurate records in freight systems and databases
  
  

Requirements

• Experience working with a UK-based freight forwarder is essential!
• Strong understanding of road freight and courier networks (UK & EU)
• Working knowledge of ocean freight procedures (FCL, LCL, Incoterms)
• Familiarity with customs clearance for both imports and exports
• Proficient in using freight systems and Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
