Job description

My client is seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee a high-specification internal fit-out and refurbishment project within the education sector, based in Surrey. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record delivering internal packages, preferably on school or university projects, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day site operations for internal works (e.g., partitions, ceilings, flooring, M&E, joinery, finishes).
  • Ensure work is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors and trades on site.
  • Liaise with the project manager, client representatives, and design teams.
  • Conduct and record regular quality inspections and snagging processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations (including CDM 2015).
  • Maintain site diaries, RAMS, and relevant project documentation.
  • Manage logistics, materials, and sequencing of trades to avoid disruption to ongoing school activities (if live site).
Candidate requirements
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on education or similar public sector projects, particularly internal packages.
  • Strong eye for quality control and finishes.
  • SMSTS, CSCS (Black/Gold card preferred), and First Aid qualifications.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain, due to working in a live education environment).
  • IT literate - familiar with reporting tools and snagging software (e.g., Field View, Snag).
