Opportunity To Deliver Scotland's Power Infrastructure

We are seeking a highly experienced Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a Tier 1 Main Contractor in the commercial delivery of major power projects across Scotland. This is a key role in one of the UK's most ambitious and critical energy programmes. As part of a high-performing commercial team, you'll be instrumental in pulling together and managing subcontractor packages valued up to £60 million, ensuring robust cost management, procurement, and commercial reporting across all project stages.

Responsibilities
  • Lead procurement and negotiation of large-scale subcontract packages (up to £60m)
  • Prepare and manage cost plans, valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Ensure accurate forecasting, budget control, and risk management
  • Liaise closely with project teams, supply chain partners, and clients
  • Provide strategic commercial support across complex multi-phase energy projects
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms, particularly NEC
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor ideally on major power/civils projects
  • Strong commercial acumen with a background in Tier 1 contracting
  • Track record in high-value subcontract procurement and management
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a site-based team
  • Must be available for occasional travel within Scotland
