Job summary

Kudos AV Ltd. is seeking a Freelance Scenic Carpenter & Set Builder to fabricate sets in the Uxbridge workshop and install them on site across London and the UK.

You will read technical drawings, build flats and cladding, apply graphics, and handle on-site finishes with care, finishing to a photographed standard and de-rigging stock for future shows. Flexibility and own tools are essential.

Qualifications

• Proper carpentry or scenic fabrication experience in both workshop and site environments.
• Ability to read technical drawings and work to tolerances.
• Own hand tools and responsibility for them.
• Willing to work at the Uxbridge workshop and travel to venues across London and the UK.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate set pieces, flats and cladding in the workshop from technical drawings.
• Install and finish sets on site to a photographed standard.
• Apply printed graphics, vinyls and fabric finishes cleanly.
• Repair and adapt scenic elements on site when needed.
• De-rig carefully so stock survives to the next show.

Freelance Scenic Carpenter & Set Builder

Build sets in the workshop and finish them on site: scenic carpentry, cladding and print installs for events that get photographed.

Kudos AV produces conferences, award ceremonies, brand activations, exhibitions and private events across London and the UK, around 500 a year, from our base in Uxbridge. The core team is full time; when a build needs more hands we book freelancers we know, and the people who do good work get booked again and again.

For scenic that means sets fabricated at our Uxbridge workshop and installed in five star hotels and heritage venues, printed graphics applied without bubbles, and finishes that hold up when the client walks the room an hour before doors.

What we are looking for

• Proper carpentry or scenic fabrication experience, workshop and site.
• Able to read technical drawings and work to tolerances.
• Own hand tools and the habits of someone who looks after them.
• Able to work at the Uxbridge workshop and at venues across London and the UK.

Useful but not essential

• Vinyl application and large format graphics experience.
• Spray finishing or specialist scenic paint skills.
• A full UK driving licence.
