SILA Linguists is seeking freelance Nuer interpreters and translators for asylum, legal, healthcare and community work in the UK. Work available by telephone, video, or in person, with assignments ranging from clinics to tribunals.

Requirements include native or near-native Nuer and English, and a recognised interpreting/translation qualification (DPSI/DPI) or equivalent experience. DBS check and right to work in the UK are preferred.

Qualificações

• Native or near-native fluency in Nuer and English.
• A recognised interpreting or translation qualification such as DPSI or DPI; membership of CIOL/ITI/NRPSI welcome but not required.

Responsabilidades

• Interpret between English and Nuer, checking place names, clan names and dates.
• Translate Nuer statements and letters written in the Latin-based Nuer alphabet into English.
• Interpret accurately and impartially, following the professional code of conduct and keeping information confidential.
• Research subject-specific vocabulary before assignments, particularly for medical and legal bookings.
• Work remotely by video or telephone, or on site at the client's premises, arriving prepared and on time.
• Transcribe and translate audio and video recordings, such as interviews and calls, if you have transcription skills.
