Job description

We are looking to recruit a freelance Finance Officer to help with the financial operations of the charity.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in Chorlton’s independent Theatre and Arts Centre.

The Edge Theatre & Arts Centre welcomes over 700 people through our doors every week and runs a varied programme of theatre, classes and courses and an award-winning participatory programme.

THE ROLE

This is a key role within our small friendly team. As Finance Officer you would be responsible for a range of tasks and activities including:

  • Budgeting
  • Processing Payroll
  • Invoicing
  • Credit control
  • Management accounts
  • Supporting the preparation of the annual accounts
  • Reporting to the Board
  • Making Gift Aid Claims
  • Compiling information for annual TTR claims
  • Liaising with the Accountants

The Edge is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. The organisation generates income through a diverse range of revenue streams, including earned income from box office sales, venue hire, classes and courses, and its on-site café/bar. Additional funding is secured through charitable grants from trusts and foundations, as well as support from local government and the National Lottery. Our annual turnover is £500,000.

Experience of using Sage would be an advantage, however it is not a necessity, as long as you are comfortable using new IT systems.

The hours and days of work can be flexible to suit the individual and needs of the organisation and would be discussed at interview.
