Job description

Huxbaby has grown into one of Australia’s leading children’s fashion brands, celebrated for its playful yet timeless designs. With a presence in over 300 stores globally—including The Iconic, David Jones, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bloomingdale’s—it has been a favourite of celebrity families since its launch in 2014.

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a talented Design Assistant to help shape the future of our collections and contribute to the next chapter of our success story. If you’re ready to make an impact in the fashion world, we’d love to hear from you!

Key Tasks :

  • Trend research and new silhouette research across all categories
  • Sketching / CADs in Adobe Illustrator
  • Creating tech pack cover pages with accurate trade sketches, descriptions, labelling and technical information
  • Sample room management
  • Measuring fit samples to assist the garment technician team
  • Unpacking and receipting parcels that arrive at our office for the design / production team
  • Liaise with suppliers and communicate all lab dip, strike off and trim approval comments in a timely manner
  • Assisting to set up our showroom for the wholesale selling period, unpacking samples, steaming garments and packing items for agents
  • Maintain the trims library, and assign new trim codes as styles are added

The Ideal Candidate :

  • A university graduate, or 1-2 years’ experience in fashion design with strong skills in garment construction and CADs
  • Strong skills using Adobe Illustrator for sketching
  • Strong skills in Excel and the Microsoft suite
  • High attention to detail
  • A passion for kids fashion
  • Agility – Loves to work on a diverse range of tasks and happy to work across teams
  • Positivity – A can do attitude and keen to learn
  • Collaboration– Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with team members
  • Creativity – A sharp eye for detail, and a creative approach to problem solving
  • Technical skills – Strong knowledge of garment construction and technical details
