Your Role as a Chaplain

As a Chaplain at HMP Altcourse, you will provide faith-specific care, spiritual support, and pastoral guidance to prisoners and staff. You will work with a multi-faith team to meet spiritual needs and promote inclusivity.

Your responsibilities include facilitating worship, study, and prayer opportunities, delivering faith-based and non-faith programs, and supporting rehabilitation and personal growth. You will also liaise with faith groups and agencies to aid offenders' resettlement and contribute to the wider chaplaincy work.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Provide religious care within the Christian tradition and pastoral care for all faiths.
  • Work with colleagues to deliver faith and pastoral care services.
  • Engage with faith communities to support offender resettlement.
  • This is a non-operational role with no line management responsibilities.
  • Responsibilities include advising, facilitating worship, developing policies, mentoring, and working with diverse communities.
  • Experience in a prison or similar environment and familiarity with fundraising are preferred.
