What’s The Role
The Business Integrity Department (BID) is a specialist unit within Shell Internal Audit & Investigations responsible for managing the Shell Global Helpline and Code of Conduct Compliance Incident Reporting. BID investigates allegations of fraud, bribery & corruption, and other Code of Conduct violations. It also provides expertise in fraud prevention and detection. The Fraud Investigator will play a key role in advancing BID’s fraud prevention, detection, and proactive investigation activities.

What You’ll Be Doing
You will primarily focus on proactive fraud prevention and detection activities, as well as investigating alleged breaches of the Shell Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities Include

  • Perform ongoing assessment of investigation outcomes and data feeds to identify opportunities for proactive investigation.
  • Support fraud prevention activities by mapping and assessing controls and mitigation measures, addressing gaps, and strengthening the fraud control framework.
  • Help embed fraud risk awareness and assessment within the Group, including delivering training and developing materials.
  • Collaborate with Data Analytics/Operations to develop fraud monitoring capabilities using multiple data sources.
  • Build and maintain relationships with departments responsible for key fraud controls to enhance prevention and detection capacity.

Investigations

  • Conduct investigations into possible violations of the Shell Code of Conduct, Principles, policies, and laws, including evidence collection, interviews, and report writing.
  • Experience in conducting confrontational interviews and applying various techniques is required.
  • Ability to produce high-quality, concise investigation reports meeting BID standards.
  • Identify weaknesses in accounting and internal controls and assess potential losses.

What You Bring

  • Extensive experience in corporate or criminal investigations into fraud or financial crime, or as a forensic accountant.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to handle complex data and situations.
  • Knowledge of electronic data systems and forensic investigation techniques.
  • Legal, Contracting, Procurement, Finance, IT, or project management skills are advantageous.
  • High integrity, confidentiality, and credibility, with experience handling sensitive information.
  • Collaborative, energetic, self-motivated, with a business-focused mindset.
  • Solution-oriented and pragmatic, capable of working at senior levels.
