Job summary

The Kingston And Richmond NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an autonomous occupational therapist to assess and intervene in the emergency department and acute assessment unit, focusing on frailty, early intervention and admission avoidance where possible.

You will manage a caseload of complex cases, contribute to safe discharge planning, and help develop the service with the Frailty leads, while delivering teaching to staff and students and staying current with best practice.

Qualifications

• OT degree and HCPC registration are essential.
• Experience in NHS or equivalent with MDT working is required.
• Experience discharging patients in acute/ITU/surgery settings is desirable.
• Ability to prioritise, manage complex caseloads and delegate where appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Provide autonomous occupational therapy assessment and intervention in ED/AAU focusing on frailty and admission avoidance.
• Lead service development with Frailty leads and eligible senior staff; deliver teaching to staff and students.
• Contribute to safe discharge planning and patient flow in an acute setting.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in frailty and admission avoidance.
