Job summary

Intec Select Ltd is seeking a seasoned Virtualization Architect to lead a VMware‑to‑Microsoft Hyper‑V migration programme. This fractional, deliverables‑based consultancy offers a day rate of £700–£750 outside IR35, with occasional travel to London and close collaboration with our internal infrastructure team.

You will assess the existing VMware estate, design the target Hyper‑V architecture, develop migration strategies and waves, and document risks and dependencies for a complex financial

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Virtualization Architect / Infrastructure Architect.
• Strong enterprise VMware experience.
• Strong Microsoft Hyper-V experience.
• Experience delivering VMware-to-Hyper-V migrations.
• Strong architecture and technical design experience.
• Experience developing migration strategies and phased migration plans.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess the existing VMware estate and infrastructure architecture.
• Design the target Microsoft Hyper-V architecture.
• Develop the VMware-to-Hyper-V migration strategy and roadmap.
• Review existing compute, storage and networking infrastructure.
• Assess and recommend appropriate migration tooling and methodologies.
• Work with our internal infrastructure team to define migration waves and implementation plans.
• Identify technical dependencies, risks and potential migration challenges.
• Support high-level design and architecture documentation.
• Support Design Review Board approval.
• Ensure our internal team is capable of independently managing and operating the Hyper‑V environment following the engagement.
• Provide ongoing fractional architectural support as required.
