This Fractional Financial Controller job in Galashiels offers an excellent opportunity to join a leading employer in the Scottish Borders in a value-add role. The organisation is undergoing an exciting period of change, and due to a recent team re-structure, there is now an opening to join on a fractional, job-share basis.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will manage the organisation's finance and procurement functions daily. Your responsibilities will include management and statutory reporting, budget control, and supporting the Director of Finance. Key duties include:
To succeed, you should be a fully qualified accountant (CA/ACA/ACCA/ACMA/GCMA) with relevant experience in large, complex organisations. Experience in education or large public sector/not-for-profit organisations, such as universities, local authorities, health boards, or charities, is highly desirable. Strong technical skills, the ability to support non-finance personnel in understanding financial data, and excellent IT skills are essential. An eye for improving systems and processes is also beneficial.
This role is offered on a fractional basis of 17.5 hours per week. Flexible hours and days are available, with a preference for in-office presence 1-2 days per week. The package includes a competitive salary, a defined benefit pension scheme (around 17% contribution), and 45 days of holiday per year (pro-rata).
