Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Fractional CFO to join Bigspark as part of our finance department restructuring. This senior finance leader will bring deep expertise in M&A, corporate finance, and strategic financial leadership to drive the company's growth and transformation.

This leader will provide financial oversight, lead complex transactions, and work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to shape and execute Bigspark's long-term financial strategy, ensuring transparency, stakeholder engagement, and alignment across the business while delivering impactful results on a part-time basis.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Financial Leadership: Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with Bigspark's business goals and growth ambitions, focusing on M&A activity and integration.
  2. Mergers & Acquisitions: Lead all aspects of M&A transactions, including target evaluation, due diligence, deal structuring, negotiation, and post-merger integration.
  3. Financial Planning & Analysis: Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and scenario planning to support decision-making and optimise capital allocation.
  4. Capital Raising & Investor Relations: Drive capital raising initiatives, prepare investor presentations, and manage relationships with existing and prospective investors.
  5. Financial Reporting & Compliance: Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  6. Risk Management & Controls: Identify financial risks and implement internal controls and governance frameworks to safeguard assets.
  7. Systems & Process Improvement: Lead the implementation and optimisation of financial systems and processes to support scalable growth.
  8. Executive Collaboration: Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, senior leadership, and the Board, providing financial insights and strategic guidance.
  9. Team Leadership & Transition: Support the transition from the current Head of Finance, mentoring team members to enhance department capability.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience (10+ years) as a CFO or senior finance leader with expertise in M&A and corporate finance.
  • Strong track record of driving business growth through strategic financial leadership.
  • Deep understanding of financial planning, capital markets, risk management, and compliance.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with experience managing investor relations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fractional/part-time capacity, balancing strategic priorities with operational oversight.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a hands-on approach.
  • Experience in technology or related sectors is preferred but not essential.
