Job description

We are currently looking for an experienced FRA Carpenter to carry out fire door remedial works as part of a refurbishment project across a university campus and student accommodation in Southampton. This is a short-term but vital role ensuring fire safety standards are met ahead of the new academic year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carrying out remedial works on existing fire doors in line with current regulations (BS 8214 / BM Trada standards)

• Adjusting, replacing or upgrading door components such as hinges, closers, seals, and handles

• Ensuring all work is completed to a compliant and auditable standard

• Completing necessary documentation and reporting for each door

• Coordinating with site supervisors and fire safety teams

Requirements:

• Proven experience in FRA / fire door work

• Up-to-date knowledge of fire door compliance and passive fire protection

• Own tools and PPE

• NVQ Level 2/3 in Carpentry or equivalent (preferred)

• FIRAS, BM Trada, or similar accreditation (advantageous)
