Job summary

Brackenberry Ltd, acting with a Local Authority in Camden, seeks a FRA Carpenter on a 3-month contract with potential extension at the client's discretion. The role covers fire safety carpentry, door installation, repair and fire-stopping across residential and commercial properties.

The postholder will fit fire doors, repair frames, and ensure all work meets British Standards and safety requirements. A full UK driving licence and proven carpentry experience with fire door work are essential.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification or substantial practical experience in carpentry/joinery or a relevant building trade.
• Relevant training or demonstrable competence in fire door installation, repair and maintenance.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Install new fire doors and associated fire door sets in accordance with approved specifications and manufacturers' instructions.
• Repair, adjust and upgrade existing fire doors, frames, ironmongery and associated components.
• Inspect existing fire doors and identify defects, damage, deterioration or non-compliance.
• Replace or repair door frames and associated components where required.
• Install and maintain fire-rated door components, including seals, hinges, closers, locks, intumescent materials and other approved ironmongery.

Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Camden to assist with the appointment of a FRA Carpenter, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion.

Rate of Pay: £20.05 - £26.45 per hour

Summary:

The FRA Carpenter will be responsible for carrying out fire safety-related carpentry, door installation, repair and fire-stopping works across residential and commercial properties. The role will involve installing new fire doors, repairing and upgrading existing door sets and frames, fitting electrical enclosures, installing fire-rated plasterboard and completing associated fire-stopping works.
The postholder will ensure all work is completed to a high standard, in accordance with relevant British Standards, fire safety requirements, manufacturers' specifications and organisational procedures. The role requires strong practical carpentry skills, particular knowledge of fire doors and their components, excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality, safety and customer service.

Responsibilities:

• Install new fire doors and associated fire door sets in accordance with approved specifications and manufacturers' instructions.

• Experience repairing and upgrading existing fire doors and door frames.
• Experience working with fire door components and associated ironmongery.
