Job description

Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced test / validation Engineer to join Arm’s Solution Engineering FPGA team on a permanent basis working at the forefront of Arm based embedded design.

Join our dynamic FPGA Prototyping team, a key part of Arm's Solutions Engineering group! We are a dedicated group of engineers providing a robust platform to build and test software on Arm's brand-new subsystems and System-on-Chips (SoCs). Our mission is to accelerate the development process by offering a versatile and high-performance prototyping environment that enables seamless software integration and validation. These solutions target a wide range of market segments including mobile, server, IoT, automotive, and more!

We are a multi-disciplinary team with software, verification, FPGA expertise delivering hardware platforms to internal customers in support of Arm’s IP licensing model. This role will initially involve development of an FPGA test and validation environment to support Arm pre-silicon validation strategy. As the program progresses you will also provide the first line support to users on the software and analysis teams, triaging issues/observations and providing debug assistance.

You’ll contribute to the FPGA prototype validation process, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality platforms to end-users in Arm's Software, performance-analysis and SoC-validation teams. You’ll act as an intermediary between platform end-users and SoC development team(s), providing triage and debug support. This role requires a strong focus on engineering efficiency, the successful candidate will possess strong test automation skills and understanding of the benefits brought by continuous integration methodologies.

Responsibilities:
  • Commissioning of FPGA prototyping hardware including specification of peripheral hardware.
  • Validation of sophisticated SoC prototypes.
  • Gathering platform requirements from key partners, ensuring these are implemented and where not possible/feasible providing alternative solutions.
  • Building test flows and automation environments.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Strong C programming skills.
  • Understanding of Linux and bare-metal peripheral drivers.
  • Strong scripting skills, Python, TCL, C-shell, GNU Make.
  • Recent experience in software development or product validation, tests automation and continuous integration frameworks.
  • Embedded software knowledge for debug and test.
  • A creative and structured approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; ability to write coherent documentation.
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:
  • Experience of AMBA protocols and Arm CPU and System IP.
  • Experience of high-speed IO interface standards such as USB, MIPI C/D-PHY, UFS, etc.
  • Understanding of SoC verification, in particular directed-C based environments.
  • Knowledge/Experience of PCIe/CXL and DDR memory sub-systems.
