Clearance Required: Must be eligible for UK Security Clearance

Are you a skilled Firmware Engineer with a passion for high-performance systems and secure technologies? Join a team at the forefront of the Defensive Cyber sector, where innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence come together to build cutting-edge, cross-domain solutions.

About the Role

As a Firmware Engineer, you’ll be involved across the full product lifecycle—from initial concept through design, delivery, and ongoing support. You'll work with high-performance FPGAs (primarily Altera), developing code in VHDL and contributing to the complete design of secure, high-bandwidth appliances.

This is a hands-on role, ideal for engineers who thrive in technically demanding environments and are eager to solve complex challenges that matter. You will collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team that includes experts in embedded software, power distribution, thermal management, and PCB design.

What You’ll Need

  • Strong experience with VHDL development for FPGAs
  • Familiarity with at least one modern FPGA toolchain (e.g., Altera, Xilinx, Achronix)
  • Experience with high-bandwidth data processing and interfaces (e.g., networking, DRAMs)
  • A solid understanding of secure appliance design
  • Awareness or experience with hardware design principles
  • Strong task planning and communication skills

Eligibility Requirements

Due to the nature of the projects, you must be a UK national or meet the eligibility requirements for UK security clearance. Regular remote working cannot be offered for this role, but flexible working arrangements are supported.

What’s on Offer

  • 25 days holiday per year, with options to buy/sell and carry over leave
  • Private medical and dental insurance
  • Cycle to work scheme, tastecards, and other flexible benefits
