Job summary

We are recruiting for a FPGA Engineer - Field-Programmable Gate Array to join a growing and ambitious team in Derby, on-site for a permanent role. The candidate will contribute across the FPGA development lifecycle and travel between company sites may be required.

The role requires practical FPGA design experience, VHDL knowledge, and familiarity with FPGA/SoC technologies, plus experience with Riviera Pro or QuestaSim. A STEM degree or equivalent experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Practical FPGA design experience in academic, industrial or commercial settings.
• Experience using VHDL for FPGA development.
• Working knowledge of FPGA and SoC technologies.
• Experience with simulation tools such as Riviera Pro or QuestaSim.
• Experience using an FPGA toolchain through to build.
• Familiarity with scripting, ideally TCL.
• Experience using version-control systems such as Git and SVN.
• Ability to produce clear and accurate design documentation.
• A STEM degree or postgraduate qualification, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to FPGA system and module design for new and existing products.
• Capture, interpret and refine technical requirements.
• Develop, integrate and maintain FPGA modules.
• Support the definition of interfaces between internal and external components.
• Develop test benches and carry out verification activities.
• Produce clear, high-quality design documentation and artefacts.
• Investigate technical issues and work with colleagues to develop effective solutions.
• Collaborate with specialists across a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Keep up to date with relevant FPGA technologies, tools and engineering practices.
