Job description

We are working with a leading technology developer and partner of choice for major global organisations and innovative start-ups, developing a wide range of advanced products and technologies across medical devices, space-based radar systems, advanced robotics and autonomous networks.

They are looking for an experienced FPGA Engineer to join their multidisciplinary engineering team and play a key role in delivering technically challenging projects.

You’ll work across the full development lifecycle, from concept and architecture through to implementation, validation and ongoing support, collaborating closely with hardware, software and systems engineers.

The Role

As an FPGA Engineer, you will be responsible for developing high-quality FPGA and DSP solutions, translating customer requirements into robust implementations and contributing to technically demanding projects.

Your work will primarily involve AMD (Xilinx) FPGA technology, often using Zynq SoC devices, alongside close collaboration with engineers across electronics, firmware, software and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop high-quality FPGA and DSP designs and implementations
  • Work with HDL, AMD Vivado and associated simulations.
  • Contribute to technical discussions and project planning.
  • Translate customer requirements into robust FPGA-based implementations.
  • Work directly with clients on requirements and project scoping
  • Identify and raise technical risks and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
What We're Looking For
  • Strong commercial experience in FPGA development.
  • Hands‑on experience with the AMD/Xilinx Vivado toolchain.
  • Experience with FPGA simulation, verification and testing.
  • A strong understanding of digital signal processing (DSP).
  • Experience with AMD/Xilinx devices, particularly Zynq SoCs, is highly desirable.

Experience with other FPGA platforms will also be considered.

Benefits include bonus, pension, hybrid working, private medical insurance, permanent health insurance, life assurance, 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, the option to purchase an additional five days’ leave, and five training days.

The role would suit someone who enjoys working across disciplines, engaging with customers and solving complex engineering problems, as well as engineers with a strong core FPGA skill set who are keen to broaden their experience.
