Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an FPGA Engineer for an onsite 12-month contract in Luton to deliver complex firmware for advanced digital systems. You will use Xilinx technologies and HDL languages to meet stringent customer requirements.

You'll apply model-driven engineering with Matlab/Simulink, derive firmware requirements from system specs, and implement interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, and JESD while adhering to standards like DO-254. SC clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Xilinx, TCL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, and UVM.
  • Familiarity with FPGA architectures like Xilinx 7, Xilinx UltraScale, Intel (Altera), or Microsemi (Actel).
  • Experience with fast interfaces, including PCIe, Ethernet, and JESD.
  • Experience with model-driven engineering using Matlab and Simulink tools.
  • Experience deriving Firmware requirements and architecture from system specifications.
  • Applying cryptography and anti-tamper techniques.
  • Utilising artificial intelligence, machine learning, and genetic algorithms.
  • Employing electronics test methods and equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working cohesively in mixed discipline teams.
  • Holding an HNC/HND or Undergraduate Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Games Programming, Physics, or Applied Physics; or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement firmware for advanced digital systems.
  • Utilise Xilinx, TCL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, and UVM in development.
  • Work with FPGA architectures including Xilinx 7, UltraScale, Intel/Altera, or Microsemi/Actel.
  • Integrate PCIe, Ethernet, and JESD interfaces into designs.
  • Generate auto code using model-driven engineering with Matlab/Simulink.
  • Derive firmware requirements and architecture from system requirements.
  • Follow standards like RTCA DO-254 in firmware design.

Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a skilled FPGA Engineer for a contract position. This role is pivotal in delivering highly complex digital systems designed to meet stringent future customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with experts in the field to design and implement Firmware for advanced digital systems.
  • Utilise design tools such as Xilinx, TCL, Verilog, System Verilog, and UVM.
  • Apply knowledge of FPGA architectures including Xilinx 7, Xilinx UltraScale, Intel (Altera), or Microsemi (Actel).
  • Integrate fast interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, and JESD into designs.
  • Generate auto code using model-driven engineering with Matlab and Simulink tools.
  • Derive detailed Firmware requirements and architecture from system requirements.
