Job Title: FP&A Accountant (4 Month Maternity Cover)

Salary: £41,000 to £50,099, dependent on experience + generous pension + 25 days holiday per annum

Duration: 4 Month Maternity Cover

Who are we looking for?

Are you an experienced FP&A Accountant seeking a new challenge? Do you want to deliver an outstanding, efficient, and effective Financial Reporting service to the Kelda group? If yes, this role might be perfect for you.

You will be an active part of the team providing high-quality accounting and reporting services, ensuring financial control across the business. You will work closely with the Accounting and Control teams and the Finance Business Partner (FBP) teams to ensure timely and high-standard reporting. Within your specified units, you will ensure accurate reporting to meet all management, statutory, and regulatory requirements and deadlines.

What will you be doing in the role?

As our FP&A Accountant, you will provide reporting services to our Finance BPs, ensuring comprehensive and agreed presentation and analysis of financial information (actuals and forecasts) for specified units/companies. Supporting and deputising for the Senior FP&A Accountant when required, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Supporting the broader Department in delivering the Business Plan and financial outperformance.
  2. Identifying and explaining material budget variances and ensuring robust financial forecasts.
  3. Maintaining and improving financial processes, documenting them consistently, and ensuring compliance with financial controls.
  4. Consolidating group entities across the Kelda Group in line with UK and IFRS GAAP, with line manager support.
  5. Providing month-end Company reporting, including analysis and commentaries for Yorkshire Water and Kelda Holdings, with high standards.
  6. Consolidating and presenting group planning and forecasting data.
  7. Reporting month and year-end results to Shareholders and investors, including ad hoc requests.
  8. Maintaining accounting records to meet all reporting requirements and deadlines.
  9. Developing and maintaining best practices in financial processes.
  10. Managing or participating in ad hoc finance projects.
  11. Supporting team development through self-growth and creating opportunities for others.
  12. Demonstrating company values and standards within the Responsible Leader Framework.
  13. Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety policies and promoting a safety-conscious culture.
  14. Proactively identifying and eliminating waste from processes and activities.

Knowledge and Skills Required

You should be a fully qualified Accountant with broad business knowledge and experience in planning and forecasting. You will also have:

  • Experience with month-end reporting, analysis, and commentary.
  • Ability to develop and leverage internal and external networks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently, managing workload to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with financial systems, preferably SAP.
