Job summary

JetBrains is seeking a top-class ML Engineer to own the AI and ML stack, shaping the research agenda and product direction. You will lead architecture for data ingestion, retrieval, and reasoning, partnering with engineering and JetBrains Research.

You’ll drive MLOps, datasets, metrics, and pipelines, and help grow the ML team while maintaining a strong focus on clear communication and English proficiency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in ML/AI systems.
• 2+ years focused on LLMs and generative AI.
• Deep understanding of the LLM ecosystem, including model architectures and fine-tuning approaches.
• Hands-on experience with prompt engineering and LLM pipelines, including evaluation.
• Experience with multi-agent systems or agentic workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design ML/LLM data ingestion, knowledge extraction, retrieval, and reasoning solutions.
• Create datasets, metrics, and pipelines driving measurable system improvements.
• Architect agents for context retrieval, knowledge extraction, and data alignment; include prompt engineering and inference optimization.
• Establish MLOps practices: orchestration, observability, and experiment tracking.
• Collaborate with engineering and JetBrains Research on the research agenda.
• Define hiring criteria and help grow the ML team and culture.
