Job summary

Cross Border Talents in London (King's Cross) seeks a Founding Engineer to own backend services and infrastructure foundations for an enterprise AI risk platform. You will shape security, reliability, and multi-tenant design for regulated industries.

With 6+ years in backend engineering, you’ll drive IaC with Terraform, CI/CD, and production-grade infrastructure. This on-site role offers equity and close collaboration with leadership on technical direction.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Significant ownership of production infrastructure.
• Experience with a backend programming language (preferably TypeScript/Node.js).
• Production experience with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with containerized production workloads and cloud infra.
• Strong security fundamentals and IAM architecture experience.
• Awareness of software supply chain security and compliance controls.
• Ability to balance rapid product delivery with reliability and security.

Responsibilities

• Build and own backend services across the platform.
• Develop APIs, asynchronous workflows, and core data models.
• Design and maintain cloud infrastructure foundations.
• Own Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Design secure multi-tenant isolation across compute, data, and network layers.
• Own deployment pipelines and CI/CD infrastructure.
• Build and maintain observability systems.
• Establish and improve production on-call practices.
• Develop infrastructure for long-running AI agent workloads.
• Build systems for large-scale document processing.
• Design secure execution environments for AI tools and agents.
• Automate compliance evidence collection.
• Support SOC 2, ISO 27001, and similar frameworks.
• Develop internal tooling to speed up secure shipping.
