Subtle, based in Cambridge/London, UK, is building ambient sensing for the elderly and vulnerable at home. We’re early, validating with real customers, and creating the first hardware, software and data platform to protect people without requiring wearables.

As the first engineering hire, you’ll work directly with the founder, own hardware validation, develop software to turn sensor data into actionable insights, navigate regulatory and security requirements, and grow the engineering team as the

Qualifications

• Early-stage hardware experience in startups
• Experience using AI to accelerate engineering work
• Experience leading or building a small engineering team
• Proactive, evidence-first mindset; comfortable with ambiguity and iterative validation
• Experience with regulatory, security, or compliance in health-tech or safety/privacy regulated spaces
• Lead vendor/manufacturing negotiations and secure suitable partners
