GTM Search has been retained by a European finance, people and technology group is hiring its first UK-based Business Development Representative to open the UK market for its Power BI-based analytics platform.
- Role: Founding Business Development Representative (outbound new business)
- Company: The Data & Analytics business of a European finance, people and technology group
- Product: A Power BI-based analytics platform, plus adjacent services around it
- Market: United Kingdom, as the first person on the ground
- Location: UK remote, within easy reach of London (no UK office yet, and plans to open one)
The company is a European finance, people and technology partner, and the platform is the analytics product this hire will take to the UK. It has 800+ experts across six countries and 3,000+ customers, including 100+ technology specialists covering ERP, analytics, AI, automation and data platforms. It is ISO 27001 certified and holds Microsoft Data & AI credentials.
The platform is the company's all-in-one analytics and planning product, built on Microsoft Power BI. Compared with a standard Power BI implementation, it arrives ready to use: ready-made integrations to 100+ ERP, CRM, HR, finance and operational systems, a managed data warehouse, prebuilt analytics models, budgeting and forecasting, process mining and an AI Copilot in a single solution. Customers connect their data in days rather than months, without needing engineers or an in-house data team. User access and report distribution are managed inside the platform, which cuts the Power BI administration and helps teams adopt analytics faster. A typical implementation takes under two weeks, and over 20% of listed companies in Finland already use it.
What you will sell.
The platform and the implementation projects around it are the flagship. The company is more than this one product, and its wider Data & Analytics portfolio gives you more ways in. Alongside the platform, customers engage the company for Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, data platform modernisation, AI and automation initiatives, process mining, planning and forecasting, and custom business applications. Once a prospect is interested, the company's data and analytics experts join the conversation to go deep on the technical detail.
Typical customer challenges.
- Manual, Excel-based reporting
- Siloed ERP, CRM and finance data
- Lack of visibility into profitability and performance
- Slow budgeting and forecasting processes
- Difficulty scaling reporting across multiple entities or countries
- Poor visibility into operational bottlenecks and process efficiency
Why the UK, why now.
The company wants to significantly grow its Data & Analytics client base in the UK. The main buyer is the CFO or Finance Director, and the early motion is high-volume outbound. You would be the first person on the ground.
The opportunity
This is a ground-floor role: you start as the company's only BDR in the UK, and the path leads to a closing role as the market grows.
- Be first. You open the UK market for the platform, working largely on your own at the start. There is no team around you yet, so you build the outbound playbook, the processes and the early pipeline.
- Grow into closing. If the UK takes off as planned, your next step is a traditional closing role, taking opportunities you generate through to signed deals.
- Help build the UK unit. The company's long-term plan is to open an office and build out a UK team. As the first hire, you help shape it.
- Never selling alone. You sell a product backed by the company's 100+ technology specialists. Its data, AI and analytics experts and senior sales team join calls once you have created the opening.
What you will do
Your job is to create new conversations and qualified opportunities from scratch. This is not an account management or relationship-maintenance role.
- Prospect into UK mid-market companies, targeting CFOs, Finance Directors, CEOs, CIOs, Heads of Data, Business Controllers, FP&A leaders and senior IT stakeholders.
- Run outbound as your core rhythm: cold calling first, supported by cold email and LinkedIn.
- Open conversations around business challenges such as reporting, forecasting, data-driven decision-making and digital transformation, and qualify whether the company can help.
- Book qualified meetings and bring in the company's experts for the technical detail, staying involved as the commercial owner of the relationship.
- Use your existing network from day one, while building net-new pipeline that does not depend on it.
- Keep your pipeline and activity clean and visible, and report results to your manager.
- Work with the company's marketing team and feed back what you learn: messaging that lands, objections, and which segments respond.
- Help shape the UK outbound playbook, including target lists, sequences, call scripts and CRM process.
What we are looking for
We want an experienced BDR who can start outbound on day one without a team around them, and who can talk credibly to finance buyers about data.
- 1 to 3 years in a BDR or outbound new business role, ideally selling software or SaaS to businesses.
- A proven record of consistently generating qualified pipeline through cold calling, cold email and LinkedIn prospecting.
- Comfort with outbound volume. In the early days this is a volume business, so you enjoy the hunt.
- Experience of working independently, ideally as a first hire or in an early market where you built territory, pipeline or process from the ground up. Or you are actively seeking the opportunity to become a founding commercial hire in a new market.
- A consultative style: you uncover pain, understand business value and can hold a conversation with a CFO or Finance Director.
- Enough understanding of business intelligence, analytics, data platforms or ERP to speak credibly with both business and technical stakeholders.
Strongly valued
- Experience selling BI or analytics tools.
- An existing network of UK finance and data buyers that you can start calling straight away.
- Experience selling into the office of the CFO.
- Experience selling data, analytics or consulting services alongside a product.
You do not need a technical or data degree. The company already has the subject matter experts, and needs someone to generate the pipeline for them.
Backgrounds that fit well
There are two natural routes into this role, and the strongest candidates combine them.
- BI and analytics sellers. BDRs and sales professionals from Power BI partners and adjacent BI, data visualisation, data platform and analytics software businesses, who already speak the language.
- Finance-buyer software sellers. People who have sold SaaS to the CFO's office, such as ERP, accounting, FP&A, planning or expense management, ideally to a high volume of small and medium-sized UK businesses.
- Early-market builders. Experienced BDRs who have been first on the ground before. Direct BI experience is preferred, but exceptional outbound talent from adjacent software will be considered.
Traits and mindset
The right person is a self-starter who is motivated by creating opportunities where none existed.
- A genuine hunter. You enjoy cold outreach and opening doors, and you are energised by new conversations rather than maintaining existing ones.
- Mature and credible. Seniority here is about how you carry yourself and engage senior people, not your age or title.
- Entrepreneurial and self-driven. You are comfortable with autonomy, set your own rhythm and hold yourself to measurable results.
- Network-aware, not network-dependent. You use your relationships to move fast, but your pipeline does not rely on them alone.
- Curious and commercial. You pick up new products and technical subjects quickly, and you focus on business value over features.
- A team player. You work independently, but you bring in the company's experts early and share what you learn.
The company is family-founded and built around four core values:
- Desire to delight the customer
- Will to develop ourselves and our knowledge
- Passion for achieving together
- Honesty and appreciation towards each other
We are looking for someone who enjoys building new business while working closely with technical experts and customers. We are also looking for good people, both professionally and in their personal lives.
