Job summary

Join a leading football club as an Academy Coach, where you will lead high-level training sessions and develop young players in line with the club's philosophy. You will work collaboratively with coaching staff and parents to ensure player success and cohesion within the team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years working within an academy structure.
  • Previous experience coaching U6 – U11 age groups in a lead capacity.

As an academy coach, you will lead the delivery of high-level training sessions and game day coaching in an elite category 1 environment, continually improving players individually and cohesively within the style of Manchester City Football Club. Although assigned to a particular age group, you will also have the opportunity to support or lead the development of the Club’s other academy teams at different age groups.

Your Impact
  • Lead age group coaches to motivate and develop individual players, enabling them to succeed playing in the Manchester City style of play.
  • Understand and produce key programs to enable individual players to successfully transition between age groups in line with the Club’s footballing philosophy.
  • Implement individual learning plans for your designated age group squad, with an understanding of technical, tactical, physical, and psychological development specific to each age.
  • Identify individual skills and apply appropriate coaching and tactical development tailored to each player.
  • Ensure cohesion, conflict resolution, and management of players to maintain high behavioral standards and a positive team ethic at all times.
  • Work cooperatively with all academy staff and maintain relationships with players’ parents or guardians.
  • Liaise with the scouting and recruitment department for player selection.
  • Work in line with the strategy of EPPP as agreed by the Club.
What we are looking for
  • Professional qualification: FA Advanced Youth award
  • Previous experience coaching U6 – U11 age groups in a lead capacity
  • Minimum of 3 years working within an academy structure
  • Excellent ability to identify, develop, and support football talent
  • Understanding and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Problem-solving skills within a fast-paced, competitive environment
  • Excellent knowledge of age-specific player development
  • Experience and knowledge of recruitment processes
