Job description

Cardiff and Vale College's Foundation Learning department delivers courses for young people with Additional Learning Needs and/or Disabilities and those at risk of becoming NEET. The department grows year on year and our curriculum for 2023/24 includes 31 courses for 400+ potential learners across 6 different sites. Our person-centred and outcome-driven courses are organised into the following areas:

  1. Foundations of Independent Living
  2. Foundations of Work
  3. Foundations of Study

All of our courses use a mixture of traditional classroom-based lessons and project-based learning, to create a vibrant and engaging curriculum. Our team uses their wider skill sets and work history to enhance the curriculum, ensuring that our students are skilled and employable people. We are passionate about teaching and learning and recognise that like our learners, each new staff member has had their own learning journey. For this reason, we pride ourselves on our CPD program focusing on what we teach and how we teach it and offer regular workshops and termly CPD focused on making teachers confident that they are making an impact in the classroom.

We are looking for an experienced Job Coach to support the delivery of our Pre-Supported Internship programme. The successful candidate will be passionate about working with young adults with ALN and/or disabilities and possess the skills and qualities necessary to support young people into and during their internship. As well as working to directly support the learners' success on placement, the Job Coach will liaise with host employers to plan appropriate training. This role will be vital in ensuring that young people leave their placements skilled and employable. This role will offer the candidate the opportunity to develop their skills in a growing team recognised for their impact.

The ability to communicate via the medium of Welsh is desirable for this role.

In return for your hard work and dedication to our learners, we offer fantastic benefits including a generous pension scheme, cash health plan, employee assistance programme, access to our Cycle to Work, Headspace app and access to money-saving benefits through our Reward Gateway scheme.
