Job summary

Torbay Council is seeking an experienced Assistant Team Manager to lead the Fostering team. You will oversee supervision, visits to foster carers and multi-agency meetings, ensuring child-centred practice and outcomes for children in care.

The role requires knowledge of fostering standards, legislation, and effective management practices. You will mentor staff, support carers, and engage in service-wide projects, with training opportunities via the Learning Academy.

Qualifications

• Social Work degree or equivalent qualification.
• Registration with Social Work England is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision to a small number of social workers and community workers.
• Lead as the primary professional supporting several fostering families/connected carers.
• Develop and embed restorative practice and quality assurance across the team.
• Support the team manager to maintain high practice standards and compliance.
• Deliver training to foster carers and participate in cross-service projects.
