Job summary

Blackpool Council’s Fostering Team Social Worker role is permanent and part-time (18.5 hrs/week). You will support foster carers by providing professional social work input, information and advice, ensuring high quality care for children in placement.

You will work within statutory standards and Blackpool Families Rock values, supervise a caseload, and collaborate with other professionals to secure positive outcomes for children and young people.

Qualifications

• Hold a DipSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work and be registered with Social Work England.
• Have a full driving licence and car available for work along with business insurance.
• Have an enhanced DBS certificate in date.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to make clear decisions based on available information.
• Able to work within and contribute to a team.
• Knowledge of service needs for ethnic minority communities.
• Flexible approach to work and working hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a caseload of foster carers who care for children.
• Provide professional guidance and information to foster carers to enable high quality care.
• Ensure each child’s individual needs are reflected in support and development.
• Maintain professional boundaries and focus on child welfare.
• Coordinate with other professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
