Job summary

Aberlour Child Care Trust is seeking a supervising social worker for its Fostering Team, a home-based National Fostering Service. The role focuses on recruiting, assessing and supervising foster carers, liaising with placing local authorities and helping shape the service while travelling to meet carers and agencies across the country.

The post includes evenings and weekends as required and an on-call rota. Registration with the SSSC and a full UK driving licence are required.

Qualifications

• Understanding of fostering and the current legislation framework.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, assess and supervise foster carers.
• Support foster carers to provide the right environment and support for the children and young people they foster.
• Liaise with placing local authorities about the needs of looked after children and young people.
• Support and manage foster carers.
• Contribute to the delivery and development of the Fostering Service.
• Travel to meet foster carers and other agencies.
• Work evenings and weekends as required and take part in an on-call rota.
