Job summary

Essex County Council in Chelmsford is seeking an Outreach worker – Fostering on a part-time basis (29.6 hours/week). The role offers a pro rata salary (£21,027–£26,604 per annum) with no visa sponsorship. You will support foster carers and children, work flexibly outside office hours, and contribute to recruitment and safeguarding in the fostering service.

Qualifications

• Educated to RQF Level 2 (GCSE) or equivalent by experience
• Experience of working with children and families
• Experience of working with the public and maintaining boundaries and communication
• Awareness of the impact of trauma on children’s behaviour
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage own workload and time
• Ability to work in partnership with social work colleagues and other professionals
• Familiarity with safeguarding protocols and Children Act 1989 and related standards

Responsibilities

• Undertake direct work with children and young people as planned by supervising social workers or others
• Undertake direct work with the sons and daughters of foster carers
• Attend other meetings relevant to the child as directed by the fostering manager
• Participate in observation and assessment of young people
• Ensure accurate records of conversations with children and carers
• Work collaboratively with partners to ensure safety and best outcomes
• Build relationships with the child through group or one-to-one work
