We are looking for calm, reflective professionals like you to become Step Forward Foster Carers offering a safe, stable home to a young person transitioning from residential care. This is your opportunity to use your therapeutic understanding in a new, meaningful way by providing long-term care, trust, and emotional safety in a family setting.

What is Step Forward Fostering?

Step Forward Fostering is a pioneering programme that supports young people who ve experienced trauma, instability, and loss, helping them transition from residential care into a nurturing home environment.

These young people need more than just shelter they need someone like you: a consistent, caring adult who understands emotional dysregulation, trauma responses, and how to build trust over time.

As a Step Forward Foster Carer, you ll be part of a multi-agency team that values your therapeutic awareness. You ll never be alone on this journey.

What You ll Receive:

We know that supporting a young person with complex emotional needs is no small commitment. That s why we provide full support practical, emotional, and financial from day one.

Specialist Support:

• Your own Senior Practitioner offering regular supervision and guidance
• A Family Wellbeing Worker to support both you and the young person in your care
• A Hub Carer providing up to 28 days of planned short breaks every year
• 24/7 Out-of-Hours Support
• Peer support through a network of other Step Forward Carers
• Ongoing training in trauma-informed care and neurodevelopmental needs
• Access to therapeutic and psychological support

Financial Package:

We provide generous financial support to ensure you can focus fully on creating a safe, stable, and therapeutic home environment.

• GBP1,052 per week while you have a child placed with you (around GBP54,704 per year)
• GBP408 per week retainer between placements (up to GBP21,216 annually)
• Extra allowances for birthdays, holidays, and cultural celebrations
• Tax exemptions specifically designed for foster carers

Is This You?

We are looking for CBT Therapists who are:

• Passionate about mental health and emotional wellbeing
• Skilled in managing trauma, anxiety, low mood, and behavioural challenges
• Calm, resilient, and able to create structure and emotional safety
• Ready to bring their therapeutic insight into a family-based setting
