Job description

We are searching for a highly professional and presentable Butler to join a prestigious private residence in Hampshire to provide high-end service and general household assistance.

You will be working amongst a large estate team, so it is imperative that you can work collaboratively and are a strong team player with a great work ethic.

The family are not in residence full-time, therefore duties will vary day to day.

Duties include:

  • Preparing the residence ahead of the family’s arrival
  • Granting access to the estate for contractors, deliveries and guests following security protocols
  • Coordinating and accepting deliveries (linen, food, wine etc)
  • Full beverage service, including tea and coffee
  • Silver service at all mealtimes and ad hoc requests
  • Meeting and greeting guests
  • Bar service
  • Cellar management of the fine wine and spirits
  • Management of wait staff
  • Formal table settings
  • Caring for the china, silver and glassware as well as other antiques and specialist items
  • Assisting with the coordination and hosting of events
  • Running general errands
  • Valet duties including unpacking and packing suitcases

Key requirements include:

  • Experience: at least 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within a private household
  • Skills: a keen eye for detail, excellent communication and organisational skills; polite, professional with a high level of personal presentation
  • Flexibility: willingness to work irregular hours depending on the Principal’s requirements

The ideal candidate will understand the importance of discretion and confidentiality, and will have proven extensive experience in formal silver service.

The role will require you to work 5 days per week between Monday – Sunday with two days off per week. You will work approximately 45 hours per week with the candidate to be required to be flexible on days and timings. Due to the nature of the role and location of the property, a driver is essential.
